Benefits of Vocational Education in Germany
One of the main benefits of the VET program is that there are great opportunities for students to be educated. In the VET Data Report Germany 2012, by the BIBB, it showed that “about 35% of the companies could fill their training places only in part or not at all.”[1] So there were still open spaces in vocational training apprenticeship and not enough students to fill them. “In the year 2010, according to the Vocational Education and Training Statistics, there were 1,508,328 young people in the dual”[2] VET program. This means many students are seeing the benefits of vocational education and are making the choice for vocational learning.
Another benefit is that students can achieve academic and vocational qualifications through the Vocational Grammar schools. This allows students to have a choice in pursuing university or being qualified for a vocational job. The Germany vocational school does not limit students but encourages every student to be successful lifelong learners. As a result they will be happy and engaged everyday in their occupation. The Vocational Education involves everyone in society from students, families, corporations and the government. Everyone in Germany works hard to meet high standards set by DEQA-VET , EQAVET and UNESCO to make the very best Vocational Education system.
The German vocational system is constantly changing and growing with the twenty-first century. The German Education system meets with businesses to make sure that students training is relevant to the workplace. There is a strong cooperation between the vocational system and government. The education system and German businesses working together to make the best vocational education possible for German students. There is increasing number of training spaces available each year allowing more students to participate in the dual vocational education system.
