EQAVET
Vocational education in Europe is monitored and structured to a high standard, which is required by employers. When students are in High School, they learn technical and general knowledge that is concentrated on what is needed within the industry. This learning is regulated by the government and the European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training (EQAVET). The EQAVET monitors and provides guidelines for vocational education in Europe. The EQAVET desire “initiatives for vocational education and training to help make qualification, experiences and skills better appreciated and easier to recognise throughout the European Union. The aim is to give greater access to learning or employment opportunities in different countries and encourage greater mobility.”[1] EQAVET works with governments from different countries within Europe making vocational education and qualifications consistent throughout the European Union. This allows for easy mobility of workers in different countries and for consistency within training. In European countries, they work with committees that consist of various governments, trade and industry unions, and employers to meet the qualifications set out by EQAVET. These committees work together to form regulations and policies in vocational education. Having so much input allows for vocational education to change and grow with the demands of the economy. Vocational education does not stay rigid but is able to adapt and be gently guided by the Government and EQAVET for the benefit of students.
